About the Artist
Born in Philadelphia, Donna Larsen—known in the street art world as 2xShin (“The Little Heart”)—is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges fine art, architecture, and urban expression. A graduate of UC Berkeley with a degree in Architecture and Design, Larsen went on to earn her Master of Fine Arts in Mixed Media from Lone Mountain College.
Over twenty-five years ago, Larsen turned her creative focus toward street art as a medium for spreading joy and emotional connection. Motivated by a desire to counterbalance the often-anxious tone of contemporary visual culture, she began using wheat paste and glue starch to post hopeful, ephemeral images in public spaces.
For Larsen, impermanence is part of the message—each piece is a fleeting moment of optimism, designed to surprise and uplift passersby in diverse urban environments from New York’s East and West Villages to Brooklyn. She views her street art as a spiritual practice: an anonymous gift that transforms the daily walk to work into a living gallery.
Her works have appeared on the streets of Rome, Istanbul, Saigon, Philadelphia, and New York. The pieces presented here are full-scale replicas that preserve the original synergy between artwork and setting, continuing her exploration of art as a shared, spontaneous experience.
