An assortment of amulets, thoughtfully created for actualizing wishes, dreams, hopes, and promises. Thoughtfully created for holding in the hand, draping on a table, or hanging on the wall. Beads are hand sculpted in clay, burnished, and finished with glaze and acrylic paint; then strung on a hemp cord and finished with a knot.

Available in three designs: eye, heart and spirit.

Votum Eye: Amulets to invoke protection, growth, abundance, and clarity. Beads are finished in black, grays, and blue, with an eye charm and tiny pods.

Votum Heart: Amulets to invoke love, happiness, friendship, and peace. Beads are finished in white and pink bronze, with a heart charm.

Votum Spirit: Amulets to invoke health, vitality, flow, and resolution. Beads are finished in black, browns, and grays, with a swirl charm and thorns.

Each piece is unique and made by hand. Expect subtle variations in shape, size, texture, and hue. Dimensions: 12” l x 6”w x 2” h. Beads are ½” to 2” in diameter. One wooden peg included. Care: wipe with a damp cloth, indoor use only.

The Artist

Cathie is an artist, designer and playful thing-maker with a formal education in graphic and industrial design. She is passionate about good design and creating beautiful things that bring pleasure, joy and peace. The artist in her loves the process of making the dreamy, meditative and creative flow state. The designer side thrives in collaboration, problem-solving, technical challenge and product.

Creating art informs and balances her design work and daily life. It is the voice of her heart, desires, and imagination. When not creating beautiful things, Cathie can be found gardening, hiking, plotting her next trip, cooking for everybody, dancing with her sweetheart or playing with her giant puppy.

Artist Statement

Humans have an intimate relationship with beads - collecting, trading, adorning and praying with chunks of earth for thousands of years. When Cathie sculpts and assembles her art, it is a meditation and practice of gratitude.

Cathie is inspired by the interconnection of the natural world and spirituality. Her forms are reminiscent of blossoms, seed pods, the human body, and ritual artifacts. Sculpture that asks to be touched, to be held, and turned over in the hand.
